The Need
- Traditional forms of theological training cannot keep up with the tremendous need for training, particularly in Africa.
- In Africa, for example, 90% of pastors of the Indigenous churches have no theological training. This leads to syncretism and a weak, non-reproducing Church.
- New models are needed in order to keep up with the need of a growing Church.
ICM Purpose
- Our goal is to provide on-the-job theological training for church leaders. Training must serve the local church and not be an end in itself.
- ICM has designed its theological training programs to be at various educational levels, yet all in an in-service format.
ICM Strategy
- Since the 1980s ICM has been a pioneer in providing in-service formats that enable pastors in-service format that enabled pastors and church leaders to remain in their community, serving their churches, while getting much needed theological training.
- All our programs, ranging from Certificate, Diploma, BA, and MA, are modular, requiring participants to come to our centre only several times a year.
- ICM’s Africa Theological Seminary is one seminary with four campuses in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, and Nigeria. The quality of ICM’s program is such that the degrees it offers are recognized by noted accrediting agencies across Africa and in each country.
Ministry Opportunities
- If you are a professor or teacher and would like to teach a course (1-2 weeks), please contact us.
- You could also be directly involved around the world by funding a pastor’s training through a Shepherd Scholarship. There are also opportunities to support other ICM staff in Africa.
