A Report from Raydel, Ministry Coach in Cuba:
After a year and a half of beginning the mentoring project in the City of Havana we are filled with joy as the Lord has produced the fruit for which we have been praying a long time. We are pleased to share that in the city of Havana a small network of house churches has been born. It is led by brothers involved in the training and mentoring program, for which we have prayed and supported in the last two years. To date, two training centers are running weekly where leaders, teachers and elders of the 17 groups and congregations are equipped.
Our team of mentors is responsible for training with the support of some traditional churches in the city who share this vision. These house churches make up this small network of fellowship in the city of Havana. Our values are reproduced in these groups through personal mentoring in addition to regular training and coaching at the two centers.
Our values are comprised of at least five elements that must be present for a Bible study group or local discipleship to become a church. These are: Christ centered, an Incarnational community, discipleship, an expression of the priesthood of every believer, and Leadership where teams of elders serve local congregations and those with equipping gifts form training groups to develop the Network.
In a culture where the traditional evangelical model is becoming less attractive to the new generation, the transformational church seems to be an appropriate alternative for the people of God in Cuba who can connect to the new and bring them the gospel of the Kingdom, and disciple our nation.
