Description
CLI – Christian Leadership Institute: Module 3.0 Biblical Foundations
This module, as well as the next module (4.0) cover the two technical competencies of this Certificate. The candidate will be assessed as to their current level of biblical knowledge, which will include biblical knowledge, biblical interpretation, as well as their ability to communicate biblical truth with others in relevant ways. All of these are necessary skills which need to be built upon the personal and relational foundations laid in the last two modules.
Competency 3.10 Biblical Knowledge: Description and Rationale
Having a firm grasp of the content of the Bible is crucial for the leader who feels called to serve the body of Christ. They must be able to faithfully handle the word of truth in order to help others do the same. While this competency focuses on the actual biblical content, as other competencies have already assessed, it is important for the candidate to also internalize and “live” this Word if they are going to be effective leaders within the church. Factual knowledge is important, but only a starting point. The Word of Truth needs to become experiential knowledge as well.
