With a basic understanding of Cultural Intelligence from the previous chapter, as well as practical skills that are necessary for the leader to be effective within an increasingly multicultural global ministry context. In this competency we will discuss more specifically how to share the Gospel in a relevant way in specific cultures with the goal of transforming and redeeming culture rather than “destroying” culture. Proficiency in this competency will be achieved as the candidate learns specific skills necessary to bridge cultures and subcultures with the Gospel message.

Description

CLI – Christian Leadership Institute: Module 7.0 Missional Foundations

The competencies in this module focus learning the skills to view both the culture in which we are embedded but also the skills required to share the Gospel within other cultures. Culture can mean varied ethnic groups but also includes subgroups within similar ethnic cultures as well as between generational cultures. From a general understanding of culture, specific way of bridging cultures will be discussed with the goal that the candidate becomes a missional leader with a focus on multiplication within each of their ministries.

The Authors

Doug Friesen is a pastor, teacher, church planter, mentor, ministry coach, and director of CLIMB, an organization that facilitates innovative ministries in Canada. Phil Jeske (PhD) is a missionary teacher, author, ministry coach and president of ICM, an international mission organization.  They are both specialists in their field of leadership development and travel internationally coaching teams within the Ministry Coaching Network (MCNet). They have a passion to mentor the next generation of servant leaders and help ministry teams start innovative ministries that will impact their nations. Both they and their wives  live near Vancouver, Canada with their grown children and grandchildren.
