Over many decades James and Mary have been serving in East Africa. They were actually the first Kenyan couple to join the ICM Intl. team in the late 1980s and last December they celebrated 46 years of marriage. Their ministry began in their home country of Kenya and over the last couple decades they expanded the leadership training into Tanzania. Thank you for your support of the Kamaus’ as they faithfully fulfill God’s call on their life to equip leaders who will then train others (2 Tim. 2:2).
Recently they provided this update on one aspect of their ministry among the Maasai people group: “There were three baptisms in the Maasai church in 2024, and most of the candidates were men. This is significant in that men are conspicuously absent in the places of worship. This included nineteen candidates from three different church plants. In the fall of 2024 representatives from six different Maasai churches met for fellowship and celebration. It was a great encouragement for them to see such a gathering of so many Maasai believers. Phil Walker (co-founder, ICM USA) attended, as well as other ministry leaders from Kenya.![]()
In these gatherings men and women don’t sit together and since men herd their animals in the morning, they cannot attend Sunday morning services. This accounts for the absence of men in church gatherings, which is why we meet for church when the men are available. Each church decides their meeting times. Like the Maasai, we follow the sheep!”
