About the Book

In spite of all the interest and discussion about mentoring, there remains a leadership crisis in the Church. The author believes that mentoring is the means by which to resolve this crisis. In this book, Dr. Jeske covers new ground answering questions which are fundamental to the mentoring process: Do we as a leader have what it takes to be an effective mentor? And perhaps even less discussed, Is the culture of our church or organization encouraging or hindering mentoring relationships?

Dr. Jeske has coined the term Mentoring Intelligence (MQ) and shows the important role it plays in the leader’s ability to mentor others. Using personal examples from years of intercultural ministry, the author focuses on the key factors (Generational, Motivational, Leadership, Practical, and Organizational), that are indicators of a leader’s effectiveness as a mentor. About the Workbook

Based upon his book, Mentoring Intelligence, Dr. Jeske has designed a workbook to assist both individuals and small groups dig a bit deeper into understanding their own mentoring quotient (MQ). The additional questions and succinct format is intended to help the reader focus in on the important factors affecting mentoring and then make application in their own life and mentoring relationships. After reading the original book, this companion volume will help the reader apply these truths in their own life as well as provide a resource in teaching others.

Both current and emerging leaders will find this a helpful tool in assessing their own mentoring intelligence, as well as that of their organization. But this workbook is not just intended for those in leadership or aspiring to leadership. As Jeske emphasizes, “everyone has the potential to increase their Mentoring Intelligence – the ability to positively impact others for the Kingdom.” All those wanting to be better equipped to serve others will be greatly benefited by this study.

About the Author

Phil Jeske (MA, PhD) is an author, missionary/teacher and ministry coach. He is the president of ICM Canada and catalyst for Ministry Coaching Network; providing leadership workshops and coaching ministry teams around the world. He and his family have lived as missionaries in Africa and Europe. They (Phil & Nancy) have an adult daughter and currently live near Vancouver, BC., Canada.
